CRYBLOCK 2018 Paper #21 Reviews and Comments =========================================================================== Paper #21 Towards Blockchain-enabled Wireless Mesh Networks Review #21A =========================================================================== Overall merit ------------- 4. Accept Reviewer expertise ------------------ 4. Expert Paper summary ------------- The paper proposes to use a permissioned blockchain to support community mesh networks. They provide also some evaluation on a prototype implementation and identify some critical points. Comments for author ------------------- I suggest to add some ideas on how to possibly surmount the identified critical points that might be a bottleneck for the system Review #21B =========================================================================== Overall merit ------------- 3. Weak accept Reviewer expertise ------------------ 2. Some familiarity Paper summary ------------- The paper deploys the Hyperledger Fabric blockchain network on 10 Raspberry Pi boards and evaluates the network performance (e.g., latency and CPU loads) in both lab and QMPSU network environments. Results show that the endorser is the bottleneck for the network due to the additional chaincode container at each endorsing node. Comments for author ------------------- Although the study is relatively small, it is interesting to see the real network performance of the HLF network. It seems that the authors assume the nodes in the network are synchronized. Then, what does the ordering service do if any of the endorser nodes are unsynchronized? In table 1, it would be great if the authors can provide more insights. For example, why the relationship between the block size and the transaction completion time is not linear?
